Flickr: image checkout & mashups

Checked out and signed up for flickr account. It is hard to figure out how to do some stuff in flickr. Looking at other people's photos is easy, however. There were a lot of cool canoe photos. I also played with some of the mashups. I did a poor job of guessing tags in the one game.

Flickr is a cool site. I like being able to see all the photos, but I'm really leary to have my photographs become public. I did invite a friend to my site and commented on a photo.

Signed up for it and checked it out. It was okay for a news feed. :)

LibWorm

In an effort to avoid setting up yet another account, I just subscribed to the libworms feeds through my Bloglines account. It was easy enough. I really procrastinated on this portion cause I just can't get that excited about news feeds. sigh!

IM

I have an AIM account and used to IM frequently with a guy at work because he always wanted to know when a certain person was in/out of his/her office. hehe I don't really use it much anymore. I tried to get into my AIM account today, and I can't remember my password. :0 I still use instant messaging quite a bit because it's on the reference desk and I answer questions via this method. Depending on the type of reference question, sometimes I really like IM, and sometimes I don't.

Thought I'd hate it, hate it, hate it. I kinda like it. I think what appeals to me the most right now is that I can easily email my niece via this forum. It's a nice way to keep in touch with the "younger generation".

RSS feeds

Since my bloglines had already been setup at a much earlier point in time, I went ahead and added a few more feeds to the account. I added big W's opml for updates for all the blogs in the library. Then I went to the school's feed site and added the business feeds. It was a fairly simple process in both cases.

I must admit that RSS feeds are not my favorite. I've never been a big news reader anyway, so a feed is just something that I really don't keep up with. Don't get me wrong: I can see the beauty of it! It's just not my favorite scenery right now. Maybe if I could find some craft or canoeing feeds, I'd be rocking!

Bloglines Set-up

Setting up a bloglines account was really easy- mainly because big W had already done this with our group, step by step, several months ago. We'll see how successful I am at actually bringing feeds into my bloglines.
